Professor Problems II

Dealing with a fucking moron.

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, my art history professor is a moron who literally couldn’t be fucked to learn to do her job.

She’s constantly quibbling about how hard Zoom and Canvas are to learn. How things like captions for disabled students on Zoom distract her too much to do her job, as does zoom chat and apparently user pictures.

As of this date I’m still not being sent her slides like I’m supposed to with my accomodations.

She’s such to have published a quiz on canvas Friday and she hasn’t done so yet. I think she set it up and didn’t hit publish.

Without the quiz being published I can’t check to make sure I have my time and a half accomodation.

Today is the day of class. I’m going to set up and use the notetaking express software to get notes made by professionals as my accomodations entitle me to.

One of the students will likely ask about the quiz in class and get that resolved.

Frankly, I’m afraid of retaliation in this class after she overreacted to my polite request for her to be a little more careful not to fucking yell at people on zoom because it triggers my PTSD then I have to step away and take a benzo.

I’m going to utilize the CYA method of dealing with this professor.

  1. I’m going to screenshot my zoom meetings from now on so that I have proof that I was in each zoom meeting so she can’t sabotage my grade by saying that I wasn’t there. Zoom also saves attendance to the cloud so I can theoretically get it audited if she tries to sabotage me that way.
  2. I’m going to photograph and screenshot my answers to all the open book open notes open internet tests. And the results. So if I don’t get full credit or if she changes my grade, I can bring it up.
  3. If she doesn’t give me time and a half on the first quiz I’m going to complain until she fixes it. Barring her giving us like two weeks of time to fill out the test in which case whatever.
  4. If I don’t get the slides I’m going to talk to the disabled student center again. If I don’t get resolution within one week I’m going to the ombudsperson.
  5. If the ombudsperson doesn’t fix it I’m going to the campus lawyer for advice. I’m not afraid to get litigious. I sued a fortune 500 debt collector for violating the TCPA to try and collect a beyond statue of limitations debt, I’m not afraid to deal with this that way as well.

Assuming we have no out of state or international students and everyone is taking 4 classes a semester, the students are paying over 80,000 dollars to take this class. Even if the professor only makes half that, it’s still 80,000 dollars a year to teach two one hour classes a year.

This professor needs to do her fucking job.

Her job includes being able to use Zoom and Canvas.

Maybe she has some sort of invisible disability that causes her to have trouble with these things, in which case I’m empathic to her struggles, but if she can’t deal for some valid reason other than not giving a shit she needs to get her own accomodations (an assistant) to do these things for her.

Regardless, I shouldn’t have to talk to the disabled student center repeatedly and the ombudsperson and possibly file an ada lawsuit against her to get my reasonable accommodations honored.

Moving beyond very mildly irritated.
